“A racist caricature of our candidate” is a dirty trick says Greg Levy’s campaign

Thousands of mailers “promoting” socialist US Senate candidate Greg Levy has absolutely no connection to his campaign, said a Levy spokesperson to the Free Press.

“Our campaign has no ties to the PAC behind these mailers, which falsely impersonate us, rely on a racist caricature of our candidate, and are meant to deceive voters,” said Matthew Charlebois who is based in Akron. “The Greg Levy for Senate campaign is considering taking legal action against the operatives behind this crude impersonation.”

The PAC in question is named “Enough Promises Ohio” and paid about $200,000 for the mailers, said Charlebois. The PAC was founded in late September, lists a Reynoldsburg address as its contact, and according to the Los Angeles Times, is a MAGA-connected super PAC.

If Enough Promises Ohio is indeed MAGA, the only explanation is that a desperate Ohio GOP is scheming to suck voters away from Brown.

Pictured above is a Greg Levy billboard on Parsons Avenue and Charlebois says it is Levy’s. Devious on the part of Enough Promises Ohio is how it must have utilized AI to create the mailers which appear very much like Levy campaign material. But that “the obvious use of AI used to make them gives it away,” he said.

Levy, also from Akron, is running as an Independent against Democrat Sherrod Brown and Republican Jon Husted. And

In a post to X, the Levy campaign added to what Charlebois offered:

“There is a well-established record of both Republican and Democratic Party operatives using their financial resources to try and trick voters. This is a highly undemocratic practice and does a disservice to voters in Ohio and throughout the country. Our campaign is historically rooted in Black and working-class communities throughout our state, and our message of fighting for working people against the biggest banks and corporations is resonating with voters all over Ohio. We reject and condemn the dirty tricks and racist impersonation of our campaign by entities working on behalf of those same capitalist institutions. This racist caricaturing of our candidate, a form of digital blackface, is a cheap, cowardly attack that is meant to demean the communities we represent and scare voters away from policies that put the needs of working families ahead of corporate profits.”

The Free Press recently ran an article on Levy written by Charlebois.

“The 2026 U.S. Senate race in Ohio is more than just a typical midterm election between Democrats and Republicans. It also marks the rise of a new political movement with Greg Levy’s independent campaign to win power for Ohio’s working class,” he wrote.

“Levy pledges to combat the ‘three social evils’ named by Martin Luther King, Jr.: militarism, poverty, and racism. His program includes ending forever wars, investing in historically oppressed communities, and expanding public services through a mass jobs program.”

Charlebois continued, “Levy’s bold, inspiring campaign is activating and mobilizing people the two major parties have either taken for granted or actively marginalized: disaffected Democrats and Republicans, young people radicalized by climate disaster and an economy that offers them nothing, and the many over-worked, under-paid Ohioans. Greg Levy speaks to a growing sentiment: the ruling system is not broken; it is working exactly as designed. And the only way to “fix” it, is to build a new one: a socialist system.

On September 29, Levy made a campaign stop at Ohio State’s Denney Hall, telling the crowd he is affiliated with the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), and called to abolish ICE, free Palestine, and cut the U.S. military budget by 90 percent.

“You’ll talk to your friends and they’ll be like, ‘God that sound nuts,’” he said. “What we build now is murder and terror. That is the U.S.’s primary export. That’s not crazy, but cutting the military budget and using that money to build dignified lives for Americans is crazy?”

What certainly has gone crazy is the Ohio GOP during this campaign season.
